Works on the Free plan: 15 diagram nodes + 150 notes, text, stickers & mind map topics per diagram.

A SWOT analysis sorts what you know into four quadrants: strengths and weaknesses inside your team or product, opportunities and threats in the market around it. This template opens a SWOT board with three sample notes in each quadrant, so you can see the level of detail that works before you write your own.

Every note sits in its quadrant on a board that grows as you add more, so a long discussion never squeezes the text into something unreadable. Drag a note from one quadrant to another and the target zone lights up before you drop it. When the analysis is done, the board stays a structured diagram you can share, export, and revisit next quarter.

When to use it

  • Preparing a strategy review, an annual plan, or a board meeting.
  • Comparing your product with a competitor before a launch.
  • Evaluating a new market, partnership, or business idea.
  • Teaching or practising strategic analysis with a case study.

How to use it

  1. Open the template and replace the sample notes in each quadrant with your own points, one per note.

  2. Keep strengths and weaknesses about your own organisation, and opportunities and threats about the world outside it.

  3. Drag notes between quadrants as the discussion changes your mind, and mark the points that matter most with a sticker.

  4. Turn the strongest opportunities into next steps, then share a link or export an image for the people who decide.

Questions

How many points should each quadrant have?

Three to six specific points per quadrant is usually enough. If a quadrant fills up with twenty notes, group similar ones and keep the clearest; a short SWOT is easier to act on than a long one.

Can I combine SWOT with PESTLE or Porter’s five forces?

Yes. Both are boards in the same pack, so you can put a PESTLE board or Porter’s five forces next to the SWOT on one canvas and use them to fill in the opportunities and threats.
